Trundle Children's Centre - New Build

We are very excited to announce that the Trundle Children’s Centre has been successful in our application to the NSW State Government’s Building Early Learning Places program. Our centre has been awarded a grant of $3 million to build a brand-new, purpose built three room facility. The new centre will be built on our existing block, and we are pleased to confirm that the current building will remain fully operational throughout the construction period. For those that may not be aware of the history of our application, our hope was originally to simply add a third room to our current two-room structure (0-3 years and 3-5 years). Due to strong and consistent growth, particularly in the 0-3 age group, we were struggling to meet demand. Having only two rooms meant we have been unable to accommodate all families seeking a place. It also creates challenges when caring for such a wide age range, from four months to nearly 3 years, especially in the relation to programming, supervision and safety. Our existing building, originally constructed as a bowling club in 1954, has served the community extremely well. However, early advice from architects and builders was that renovation was not viable due to the building’s condition and the presence of asbestos. Any major renovation would have forced the centre to close for up to six months. This advice shifted our application from renovation to a brand new build. Thanks to the support of the Trundle Progress Association and Parkes Shire Council, whose financial backing gave us the confidence to proceed, we were able to put forward a strong application. The centre has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, increasing staff members from 7 to 16 and seeing enrolments rise by just over 40% between 2023 and 2025. Trundle is thriving, with many young families returning home and new families choosing our wonderful town to raise their children. A strong childcare centre is a major drawcard for any community, complimented here by our two wonderful schools.

For nearly 25 years, The Trundle Children's Center has been shaping young minds and building the future of the community. Now a multi-million dollar grant is paving the way for a new state of the art facility, ensuring its legacy for generations to come. #7NewsCentralWest #trundle #preschool | 7NEWS Central West | Facebook
